Awakenings

In the Cathedral of the City of Lucera, near Foggia, you can see a large “low relief” depicting a man of the upper classes, with his legs crossed as Crusader Knights used to have in their tombstones and the Hanged Man in the XII Tarot Card is painted. His belt is tied with an Isis Knot, symbol of Rebirth; his head rests on the right hand, as he is awakening; in his left hand holds a closed book and four fingers can be seen.

Too many esoteric symbols are displayed to be depicted all together by mere chance: they recall the awakening of the Initiate to a superior level of knowledge.

Legal Medicine is not an esoteric discipline and hard studies are needed to achieve good results. Anyhow, looking from a different perspective (as the Hanged Man does in the Tarots), keeping the Book in your hand, showing the degree of knowledge earned (the four fingers) and awakening to understand the word from a new point of view are useful tools for a good Professional.
